Topography: The art or practice of showing on maps or charts the heights and depths of the features of a place.

Elevation: The height to which something is raised b : the height above sea level.

Bench Mark: a point that has been accurately measured for its position and elevation

Contour Line: connects places on a map that are all at the same elevation. If you walk along a contour line you neither gain or lose elevation.
